A groundbreaking composer who is regarded as one of the preeminent voices of her generation, Ms. Inserto received her Master of Music degree in Jazz Composition from the New England Conservatory, where she was handpicked by NEA Jazz Master and legendary trombonist/composer Bob Brookmeyer to study as his protégé.
A beloved professor at Berklee College of Music, her music has been performed at Carnegie Hall, Dizzy's Club (Jazz at Lincoln Center), Boston Symphony Hall, Montreux Jazz Festival, the Umbria Jazz Festival and by the Frankfurt Radio Big Band. Recordings made by the Ayn Inserto Jazz Orchestra have garnered many positive reviews, including a Downbeat Editor’s Pick and The Boston Globe 2018 Best Jazz Album.
The evening will feature longtime collaborator and tenor saxophone titan George Garzone, plus an opening set by the renowned Jazz Composers Workshop Orchestra from Berklee, whose generous support is helping make this concert possible.
"...everywhere there are varied grooves, sunburst harmonies, crafty layered voicings, all unfolding with a master storyteller’s narrative logic."
